Windfarms kill over 100 million birds and bats a year
As an example, here is an analysis of the situation in the US: US windfarms kill 10-20 times more than previously thought
For those of you in a hurry, who can’t read the article, here is the calculation:
In the US alone, the figure is 13-39 million birds and bats every year – estimate published months ago by Paul Driessen, and repeated with detailed explanations here: America’s wind farms are actually slaughtering millions of birds and bats annually
Taking the median of this bracket, we get 26 million birds and bats a year for the US.
The US has about 40,000 wind turbines, and the world about 200,000, i.e. more than four times as many. And 26 millions x 4 = 104 millions
So, 100,000,000 birds and bats a year for the world is a conservative estimate.
